Taking a Fresh Look at the Problems

A competition among young specialists for the best scientific and technical work gets up steam at Metafrax Chemicals. Last week, two more series of defenses took place, during which 11 young specialists presented their projects to the expert commission.

The following experts participated in the defense: Andrei Yeremeyev, Chairman of the commission and Technical Director of the company; Konstantin Ardashev, Head of the Production Technology Department; Dmitry Kotsolainen, Chief Mechanical Engineer of the enterprise; Dmitry Kuryshev, Chief Power Engineer; Boris Gershonok, Head of the Automation and Metrology Department; Nina Silveistrova, Deputy Head of the Planning and Economic Management (PEM) Department; Yelena Berdnikova, Section Head for the Regulated Types of Activities (PEM). They assessed the relevance, thoroughness of the projects, as well as the economic feasibility and the possibility of practical application.

Traditionally, the participants of the competition were introduced by their mentors, noting that all the young specialists studied at universities under an agreement with Metafrax, successfully completed an internship at the company, during which they decided on the subject and topic of their scientific and technical work. The projects are based on innovative solutions aimed at implementing specific tasks and improving the quality and efficiency of production, reducing costs, and improving work processes.

Based on the results of two defenses, the commission has defined three leaders who will present their projects in the final stage of the competition. The first is Dmitry Abudarov, PCS engineer of the Automation and Metrology Department with a project on editing the DCS interface of Honeywell Experion PKS using mass editing tools and Python language. The young specialist has developed a program allowing to edit identical parameters on a variety of graphic pages at a time, if necessary, what accelerates and facilitates work.

The next finalist became Olga Markova, metrology engineer of the Automation and Metrology Department, with a project on implementing software of metrological information system for automation of metrological activities at the enterprise. According to the young specialist, the transition to a new information system will increase the efficiency and reliability of metrological accounting, reduce labor costs, set up a reporting system, reminders, as well as monitor verification deadlines, integrate with related systems, and exchange data with federal information systems for metrological support. Currently, the project is already under implementation, Olga has done a lot of work on transferring information from the old to the new system, and together with the specialists of RHIT LLC, she has developed the optimal functionality of the system for the effective department operation.

Daniil Dershkov, mechanical engineer of the melamine plant, also secured a ticket to the finals. He presented to the commission a project on the topic "Installation of a machine for manufacturing spiral-wound gaskets in the maintenance and repair workshop in order to reduce the delivery time and cost of the product." The implementation of the solution proposed by the young specialist will help to fabricate customized gaskets for equipment repair quickly.

Andrei Yeremeyev, Chairman of the commission, thanked the participants of the defense, congratulated the leaders on reaching the finals, noting that the competition provides an excellent opportunity for young specialists to prove themselves, and for the experts, managers and discipline specialists of the enterprise to take a fresh look at the problems.

The competition leaders are limited in time to consider all the comments from commission members, finalize their projects and present them in the final, which will be held on May 14.
